Srinagar, Nov 07 (KNO): Education Minister Sakina Itoo Thursday said that the government was mulling to reduce the syllabi for classes 1st-9th for this academic year. The minister told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the decision of curtailment in syllabi for these classes was under consideration. Sakina said, “The matter of syllabi relaxation for classes 1st-9th is under consideration. We have not made any final decision yet.” Meanwhile sources told KNO that “Keeping in view the less academic day this year because of restoration of academic session, if the demand for syllabi relaxation is genuine, the government is likely to curtail syllabi for these classes by 10 to 30 percent.” Pertinently, the education minister had ordered to restored to November-December up to 9th standard. “For now, we will restore the academic session back to November-December up to 9th standard. For students of 10th to 12th, academic session will be restored from next year,” she said. In the meantime, the government earlier this week had ordered JKBOSE to conduct the examinations of 10th to 12th standard from February-2025 and complete by March end. Besides, the government further ordered that the annual examination (summative assessment) of class 8th shall be conducted by concerned schools from academic session 2024-25 and onwards. Earlier in 2022, the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir said that Uniform Academic Calendar shall be followed from 2022-23 academic year.—KNO
